Dr. Melissa Bowman

I grew up in Xenia, Ohio. I suffered from a lazy eye as a child.  One lens is my glasses was very thick and magnified. Finally, there was an optometrist that was able to fit me with a special contact lens. It changed my life!  I knew from that day on,  I  wanted to be an optometrist. I got my B.S. from The Ohio State University. I then decided to move to Fort Lauderdale to get my Doctorate of Optometry at Nova Southeastern University.  

I have been in practice since 2003.  I love what I do and you will too, so come and see me!

At Eye Care Optical..........

-We believe every one should have any annual eye exam! Do not wait until you are having problems. We can find the problems before they affect your vision! A person could still see 20/20 and have eye disease!

-All children need to start annual exams at 4-5 years old. An eye exam is not just reading the eye chart. We check for problems that could affect reading and learning! School screenings are not eye exams.

  • I do the entire exam. There is not a technician that does your refraction or contact fit. So many companies use a tech(who only has a high school diploma) to do this, just so they can see more patients!!  
  • There are no long waits! There are no pushy sales people!
  • Choose to NOT BE DILATED! We have state of the art technology that takes a picture of the back of the eye
  • You will get a complete medical exam of your eyes. We check for any and all eye disease​
